    About the Hosts

    Ollie (he / him)

    • Cosplay: Midousuji Akira

    • Fave Character: Sugimoto Terufumi

    • Fave Team: ...Kyofushi? Maybe?

    • Fave Episode: Heart's Wrapping, Heart's Case (4.14)

    • Fave Pedaste: THE KINGDOM

Hello there! I've been cosplaying for fun since 2007 and attending conventions for almost as long. Our 2023 meetup was my first time hosting anything! My partner & I got into YWPD in 2021, but we both love this series so much! I primarily cosplay Makishima & Komari, but I've also cosplayed Sugimoto, Teshima, & Midousuji — and likely many more!

    Carrisa (she / her)

    • Cosplay: Onoda Sakamichi (fem ver.)

    • Fave Character: Arakita Yasutomo

    • Fave Team: Sohoku

    • Fave Episode: ??? (???)

    • Fave Pedaste: HEAT UP

I’ve been cosplaying since around 2017 — it’s been a lot of fun making new friends and getting to express myself creatively. Anime Boston has become our "home" con at this point, so it's been nice to have a relaxed meetup on our calendar each year. Our next meetup will be on my birthday! I’m looking forward to seeing all of our fellow Pedal fans again soon!

    Guidelines & FAQ

    Guidelines

    All ages welcome

As Anime Boston is an all-ages event, please be mindful that attendees of any age may be present at this meetup. Please refrain from excessive swearing and discussion of adult-oriented subject matter if minors are present.

    Consent is required

Always ask for permission before touching another attendee or their belongings, including service animals and mobility devices. Want to put your arm on someone’s shoulder or do a “shippy pose” for a photo? Want to help someone fix their wig? Want to hold someone’s bag for them while they’re being photographed? Ask first! Attendees are always allowed to say “no” — no further explanation needed. If you ask someone and they say “no,” always respect their decision. If an attendee persists and crosses a boundary, please bring it to the attention of one of the hosts or an Anime Boston staff member ASAP.

    No hate zone

Every character is somebody's favorite and every ship is somebody's OTP — even if it's not your cup of tea. Please refrain from character or ship bashing, period. Additionally, do not put down other cosplayers, give unsolicited advice / criticisms, or otherwise act maliciously towards other attendees. As a rule of thumb: if you would be upset if someone said something similar to you, please don't say it to someone else. If you have concerns about how an attendee is behaving, please bring it to the attention of one of the hosts or an Anime Boston staff member ASAP.

    Be mindful of spoilers

Please be aware that spoilers for this series may be discussed! You may also see cosplays of newer characters or alternate outfits (i.e. university uniforms). If you are worried about spoilers for Limit Break or manga chapters not yet translated, please exercise caution. Conversely, please be respectful if someone asks you to not discuss spoilers in front of them.

    Stick to the rules

As with all other areas of the convention, please abide by all Anime Boston rules and comply with all instructions given by Anime Boston staff. All clothing and props must comply with convention and cosplay policies.

    Have fun!

Fandom — especially cosplay — is meant to be fun for everyone!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is the meetup being held? When am I supposed to be there? How long will it be?

A: For Anime Boston 2025, we're aiming to hold the meetup on Sunday, May 25 sometime in the late morning, and will run for approximately one hour. More information will be made available once the list of meetup locations have been updated and signups for cosplay gatherings have been opened.Ideally, we will be selecting the same location we met at in 2023, which was under the 1st Floor escalators near Hynes 105. For more information about this location, please click here.

Q: Are duplicate characters okay? Do I need to "claim" a character in order to cosplay them?

A: Anyone is able to cosplay any character they wish — no claiming necessary! Heck, you and all your friends could all show up as Makishima and we'd still have a fun time!

Q: Can folks attend even if they aren't cosplaying a Yowamushi Pedal character?

A: Of course — it's exciting to meet anyone still interested in this series, so the more the merrier! However, folks not in Yowamushi Pedal cosplay will not be able to be a part of the cosplay photoshoot. (The only exception to this rule is if a disabled cosplayer requires assistance from a companion or service animal.)

Q: I don't have anyone to take photos for me — can I find the photos somewhere afterwards?

A: Yes — there will be a Google Drive folder linked on our Archive page after Anime Boston has concluded. We'll also have a notebook at the meetup for folks to write down their social media handles to make it easier to figure out who to tag!

Q: I use a mobility device / have a service animal / require special accommodations — will I be able to attend / participate?

A: Yes! The "Where?" section of this Carrd has more information about accessibility. If you have any specific questions / concerns, please contact one of the hosts in advance.

Q: I have a Yowamushi Pedal-themed ita bag — can I bring it with me?

A: Yes — we'd definitely love to see them! Ollie will also have an assortment of official merch to trade / give away to folks working on their collections. For those interested, please take a look at his personal Carrd and direct any merch-related inquiries to him, especially if you have a specific character in mind.

Q: I have a question that isn't covered here — how should I ask someone?

A: Feel free to contact either of the hosts! You're also welcome to leave a comment on our meetup post in the Anime Boston Forum [TBA].

    Where?

    Location & Accessibility

    Location

The meetup will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 for one hour from [start time TBD] to [end time TBD] at the Hynes Convention Center. Ideally, we will be meeting at the official photoshoot location under the 1st Floor escalators near room 105; more information will be made available once the list of meetup locations have been updated and signups for cosplay gatherings have been opened.

This location has a maximum capacity of 30 people. There may be another meetup scheduled before ours, so attendees arriving early may catch the tail end of it before they wrap up. To avoid crowding, early attendees are welcome to wait by the windows near The Capital Grille or in a seated area of the Boylston Hallway.

As this location is close to one of the main elevators, please be mindful and do not block the area around the elevator doors. Doing so makes it difficult for those who need to use the elevator to enter or exit it safely.

Additionally, there may be another meetup scheduled to begin after ours, so attendees should leave the area in a timely matter in order to avoid causing delays.

If this is the first time you're attending Anime Boston or if you have never attended a meetup at this location before, we recommend that you take a few minutes on Friday or Saturday to visit it in advance if possible. Check out the cosplay gathering schedule [TBA] if you're looking for a time when it will be unoccupied (or not).

    Directions

A map of the “Plaza Level” (1st Floor) of the Hynes Convention Center. A yellow line shows how to get to the meetup location using the directions below.
    • Enter the Hynes Convention Center via the Prudential Plaza Entrance (this is the entrance closest to the Sheraton Boston Hotel).

    • Follow directions from Anime Boston staff and pass through the security checkpoint on the first floor.

    • Continue straight through the main lobby (the maid café will be on the right).

    • At the large rotunda, use either side to reach the Boylston Hallway on the opposite end.

    • Turn left into the Boylston Hallway and continue straight (rooms 101 – 105 will be on the left, the windows will be on the right).

    • Just before reaching The Capital Grille at the end of the hallway, turn left into the larger connecting hallway (bathrooms will be on the left, the elevator will be on the right).

    • There will be a sign posted at the partitioned meetup area — look for the hosts and say hello!

Anime Boston's full program will be available on Guidebook during the convention. The free Guidebook app is available for iOS & Android devices and can be used offline.

    Accessibility

The location, date, and time for the meetup was chosen with a number of accessibility-related reasons in mind:

    • The meetup will be held on the 1st Floor (or "Plaza Level") of the Hynes Convention Center. Since this is the same floor that attendees enter and exit the convention at, attendees will be able to get to the location without being required to traverse multiple levels by default.

    • The location is situated very close to one of the two main elevator locations, as well as one of two sets of escalators. This allows easy access to other floors of the building if necessary. From personal experience, the elevator can snuggly fit one person with a larger mobility device (i.e. a wheelchair or walker) alongside up to three people with smaller mobility devices (i.e. a cane or crutches) &/or who do not require a mobility device at one time.

    • The location is also very close to a set of bathrooms, which are equipped with accessible stalls.

    • Sunday is the shortest day of the convention. Attendees who have difficultly being active for longer periods of time will have a smaller selection of activities to prioritize.

    • Booking the location for one hour allows extra time in case there are late arrivals. Holding the meetup in the morning also means that things will end early enough to accommodate those with longer travel times.

Both hosts will be masked throughout the entirety of the meetup. We will have extra masks available for those who would like one — just ask! Whether it be the dreaded "con flu" or something more serious, nobody likes being sick. Masking helps allow attendees who are chronically ill, immunocompromised, or are at a higher risk of serious illness to prioritize their health while still being able to engage in fandom spaces.

If you require any specific accommodations or have an accessibility question that is specific to the meetup, please contact one of the hosts in advance.

Please note the hosts are not a part of Anime Boston's staff — we’re regular attendees just like you.If you have questions or concerns about accessibility at Anime Boston as a whole, please send an email to their Accessibility Specialist via Anime Boston's contact page in advance.

General information about Anime Boston's accessibility policies can be found here.Hours and locations for the Quiet Room and Accessibility Services for both of the main buildings can be found here.

This information is current as of April 11, 2024. The location, date, &/or time of this meetup may be subject to change if required by Anime Boston staff.
